4-stars for Dark Crime by Christine Feehan
There are about 30 novels/short stories in the series so there is now some obvious formulae to the stories. Some might find that boring but I am of the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mentality, although, I could do without the double claim ie Carpathian and English. What I enjoy about the h in the stories is that they are all ‘feisty’ in some way. I enjoy the dialogue and it is obvious that this story is taking some story arcs further. I would have given it 5-stars but I think too much was packed into a short story. Maybe this story should have been expanded to a full novel? Not sure if the following count as spoilers but just in case: SPOILER ALERT! This little story includes mention of the last two Malinov brothers, Xavier’s remaining "slivers" and another strong psychic who will turn out to be someone’s life-mate further down the series and the triplets. A lot to pack into a short story but my guess is that we will be hearing more of Blaze and Maksim in future as we explore the stories of all the Carpathians mentioned in this story.

4-stars for Dead by Twilight by Maggie Shayne
As with the first story, this one is part of a long-running series, most of which I have read, so it was a nice visit with ‘old friends’, so to speak. I liked the h who was a strong, independent woman without being bratty. On a side note, I find it baffling that so many authors now seem to think that bratty equals strong and independent. Anyway, I enjoyed the story and would have given it 5-stars except that I could not tell that is was part of the new “reborn” part of the series, which I found out that it is.

3-stars for Cimarron Spirit by Lori Herter
The acknowledgement rubbed me the wrong way. It could be just me, but it was not a good way to start reading a story by an author I had never read before. To me, the story was a very 1980’s “bodice ripper” type of story. The H and h just didn’t appeal to me. Others might like it but to me they were both wishy-washy.

Edge of Darkness Christine Feehan Maggie Shayne Lori Herter 0787721882831 Books Reviews

Not as bad as Dark Ghost, but it still suffers from the same problem too much violent sex right off the bat. The characters have no time to develop a relationship before they are "mating" non-stop. I suspect her daughter is writing her stuff now as it varies so much from her earlier style. Please, Feehan, re-read Dark Destiny and Dark Melody and get back to real heroes who aren't all about violent sex and submission. The second half of this story was much better, once the sex stopped. There was actually a plot and story. This is the only reason I gave this a 3 and not a 1.
I must say, I have been pretty disappointed in the last few Dark books. This one made me reinvest! I'm so glad it did too because this was going to be the last one I was going to read and that's pretty sad considering I've spent over a decade as an avid Dark Series fan. The characters were well developed and the lifemate bond between them was explosive! Instead of the repetitive nature and overall boring writing of the last couple books in this series, Ms. Feehan has seemed to be revitalized in and reinvested in this series. I really wish this would have been a full length novel, because all the elements were there for them to be expanded, instead of Dark Ghost. She tied up everything wonderfully and brought in a whole new batch of evil that she can build on and I'm finally looking forward to another Dark book!
Ok I have read only 2 if the authors here in this book the third one I am saving for when I am done with the books I have commitments to .
I adore Christine Feehan and love everyone of her books so I was jumping up and down when this book came out . It gave me the stories I craved and the vamps I love.
Story 1 is with Christine Feehan=Dark Crime . I was sitting on the edge of my seat .Starting this book I was so happy to see a strong woman here in the states I was so glad that this book was here in the states and not in the Carpathian mountains . The story line was amazing and I cant wait for the next book .

Dark Crime by Christine Feehan
Blaze knows who killed her father and she has merciless plans for payback. Until a phone call from a seductive stranger pleads with her to wait. Retribution is in his blood, too. Now, he and Blaze will be united in the blood of the guilty. Tonight, vengeance is theirs.

In book 2 we have the great Maggie Shayne= woohoo with Dead by Twilight.
I was so glad this book came I had been waiting for it for a while and it is so worth the wait. Madison who didnt want to be what she was and had been hiding in plain sight. Until she meets her chosen. I loved the story line it was quite refreshing to have someone who is willing to put forth the effort to be everything she is not and then have to be what she is to save the one she loves . Well Maybe refreshing is not the right word but it is the one I'm useing . I was also glad to see Rhiannon make a cameo in the end.

Dead by Twilight by Maggie Shayne
Bloodsuckers may be an accepted minority but one of them is getting away with murder. Until a female vamp teams with a mortal detective to end the killing spree. Now the night belongs to them—and so does every pleasure and danger lurking in the shadows.

I have not yet read the last story in this book but when I do I will finish my review with her story...
Feehan and Shayne are two of my must buys. Having fallen in love with their series, when I saw this companion anthology, I knew I'd need to read it.

In Dark Crime, Feehan tells the tale of a woman set on revenge and the vampire/Carpathian who helps her get it.

In Dead by Twilight, Shayne shares a story of a prom princess turned vampire who sets out to save humans from things that go bump in the night.

In Cimarron Spirit, Lori Herter (who is new to me) writes about an ancient vampire who falls for a young archaeologist who must decide between passion and family.

My favorite story was Dead by Twilight with the innocent bobbysoxer who learned to stand on her own two feet after a disaster. The author's voice was very reminiscent of the period and I felt like I was in an old cop story. Fans of vampire stories will love this book and it's a must buy for readers of these fabulous authors.
